Donuts with Icing

This is a great inexpensive and quick desert you can make in your own kitchen.  My mom used to make these for me as a kid and I was amazed that they were just biscuits with icing and so easy to make.


Roll of Biscuits (1 roll to make 6 or 7 donuts plus holes)
Powdered Sugar
Butter or Margarine
Vanilla Extract
Vegetable Oil

In a medium saucepan, heat 1 cup of Vegetable Oil.  You will want enough oil to submerge a biscuit.  Heat on Medium Heat for a few minutes.  While the oil heats up, cut wholes into the biscuits.

Icing:  Use a cup of powdered sugar and add 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla and 1 tsp of milk.  Add 2 tblsp of melted butter or margarine.  Beat with a wisk and add more sugar and ingredients until you reach your desired taste.

Biscuits:  Use a set of thongs to drop the raw biscuits into the oil and turn quickly.  Wait until they are golden brown and take them out of the oil after just a couple of minutes.  Put them on a plate with a napkin to soak up the oil.

Drizzle the icing over the biscuits, both top and bottom.

They are best served warm and they are an amazing breakfast or after dinner treat.  Biscuits cost less than a dollar and the ingredients for the icing go a long way.
